This year, we’re supporting 2 wonderful organizations fighting human trafficking, abuse, and exploitation. The issue of human trafficking has been important to us for many years–previous projects supported Love146 and the International Justice Mission–this year, we’re partnering with Jasmine Grace Outreach and New Hope Girls. See the Current Project page to learn more! Human Trafficking Around the globe, an estimated 27 million people are exploited for labor, services, and commercial sex. But this is not just a global problem - human trafficking is tragically prevalent in our own country, representing an estimated $9.8 billion in the U.S. A trafficker can make up to $100,000 a year per victim, according to the U.S. Justice Department. This year we are spotlighting the heartbreaking suicide epidemic. Suicide rates are the highest they have ever been, and no demographic is immune. Indeed, suicide rates rose across every age demographic including those 65 and older, and are especially pronounced for veterans, minorities, and LGBTQ youth. Specifically, r esearch shows that a LGBTQ youth (ages 13-24) attempts suicide every 45 seconds. We know that many of you, like us, have been personally affected in some way by suicide. These numbers feel overwhelming, but there are tangible ways to help. Because of your generosity over the years, we feel called to feature not just one but THREE charities committed to suicide prevention, and we have set ambitious goals to donate $10,000 to each, or $30,000 total.
